WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS FAR AS APPEARANCE?

Immediately after, the pigment will appear dark and the skin underneath will be red. In 1-2 weeks the skin will appear healed and the pigment will fade to appear more natural.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TOUCH UP?

We recommend a touch up about 4-6 weeks after the initial session. About once a year a General “Touch Up“ is recommended. Every 2-3 years you may need to repeat the procedure entirely.

HOW SHOULD MY TREATMENT AREA FEEL?

Immediately after, your skin will be sensitive. After a week the area will begin to exfoliate leaving soft skin behind. As the area heals it will itch, which is ok! Be careful not to scratch, instead use the suggested medicated ointment from your technician.

WHAT IS NOT A NORMAL PART OF THE HEALING PROCESS?

After 1-2 weeks, if you are experiencing puffy or raised areas, yellow discharge, very red treatment area or redness extending past the treated area, or scabbing continuing past 2 weeks, please contact me.

In a consultation appointment, we discuss the procedures you would like performed; Skin analysis, health intake, mapping, desired style & color and allergy test if needed.

You can ask any questions regarding each procedure. I then select complimentary colors according to your skin tone.

Eyeliner, Brows & Lips

"I noticed the top and bottom lines do not connect in the corners of the eyes. Is there a reason for that?"

Permanent eyeliner cannot be connected at the corners of your eye because you could experience something called migration.

This happens because tissue in the corner of the eye is very thin and the pigment can travel in the skin creating a cloudy or smudgy appearance, leaving a very undesirable look to the eyeliner. You may see examples online of work from permanent makeup artist where the corners ARE connected, but the migration can still occur anytime. We decline this request because we do not take any chances.

"Will the lower liner come all the way across the bottom to the inner corner?"

There are several options for the length of the lower liner, however, will never go past your tear duct due to issues of migration and damage to the tear duct. We can taper the line towards the tear duct or stop just past the pupil. This decision is made at the start of your appointment in the consultation stage.

"Will you apply color to the line above the lower lashes, otherwise known as the wet line?"

Similar to the migration of the corners, the wet line is very moist and even if the color applies beautifully initially, it does not age well. It eventually smudges and looks like a disorganized blur of color, usually turning blue. This can also affect your ability to create eye moisture over time.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO REMOVE IT, EVER!

"Will you add a wing to the corner of the top liner?"

Over time, this does not age well.

Eyes change dramatically as we get older. While the “wing” may be lifted out or up when we apply it, it will eventually droop down and appear miss-placed or miss-shaped. Due to the fact that some color may always stay in your skin, the eyeliner may not be easily color-boosted years later if the wing needs reshaping.

We usually recommend a more natural eyeliner that compliments the shape of your eye, and can often provide a subtle lift to the outer corners.

"Will the eyeliner look like wet liner or stay very dark?"

Permanent makeup will never have the deep dark look of liquid liner. As we apply the liner under the dermis of your skin, the skin diffuses the color. It’s similar to placing pantyhose over the top of a black sock. The black sock is no longer as dark as it was without the pantyhose over the top.

Immediately following the procedure the color looks darker and bolder because the color is sitting on the surface of the skin. After the surface exfoliates over the next 7-10 days, the color is more muted. You may, however, apply cosmetics anytime you want the color to be bolder.

The color of your own skin will have a lot to do with the final outcome of your permanent eyeliner color. If you have dark skin, the color will not show a sharp contrast, as it will with someone with pale skin.

On dark skin, permanent eyeliner will appear more of a soft grey to a soft brown. For you, permanent cosmetics may be your “get out of the shower or pool and look like you have makeup on” look. As stated above, you can always use washable cosmetics over the top to create a dramatic effect for dressing up.

"Can I have a very thin line?"

Yes, we call that a mini-liner. It’s a thin line just inside your lashes. This can make your lashes look thicker and provide definition to your eyes.

"Do I have to discontinue using lash growth products prior to an eyeliner procedure? "

YES! If you are currently using ANY lash growth product such as Latisse, GrandLASH, RevitaLash etc. you must discontinue using these products for two weeks to one month prior to an eyeliner procedure.

Lips

"My lips are no longer evenly shaped and I was interested in permanent lip liner to reshape them. Is this possible?"

YES! Permanent make up can help reshape and give fuller look! But, Lips are the most challenging service we offer. Not everyone is an ideal candidate. We require at least a photo or possibly a consultation to determine if this service is appropriate for you.

"What if I currently have lip fillers or plan to have them?"

Do you plan on maintaining fillers throughout your lifetime? If not, consider your lip service first. If you plan on maintaining fillers, we can do the procedure after as long as they have had time to settle. We recommend a minimum of 2 weeks. If at some point you don’t maintain the injections there is a risk your lip line will appear slightly uneven.

If you stop fillers, and have done them regularly, it may take 2-3 months until your lips are ready for a treatment. This should be discussed at the lip consultation.

PERMANENT MAKEUP INFORMATION

Upgrades and PMU care

Thicker eyeliner, winged eyeliners, extreme brow styles, and going outside of your natural lip lines, are all upgrades requiring upgraded paperwork

1.Do not take any aspirin within 5-7 days before the procedure as it promotes bleeding.

2.Tylenol or other non-aspirin pain relievers may be taken I hour prior to procedure.

3.Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly, or redden, it is advised not to make social plans for the same day. Lip liner may appear “crusty” for up to one week.

4.If unwanted hair is normally removed in the area to be treated, i.e.; tweezing or waxing, the hair removal should be done at least 24 hours prior to your procedure. Electrolysis should not be done within five days of the procedure. Do not resume any method of hair removal for a week after the procedure.

5.If eyelashes or eyebrows are normally dyed, do not have that procedure done within 48 hours of this procedure. Wait one week after the eyebrow or eyeliner procedure before dying lashes or brows.

6.If you wear contact lenses and are having the eyeliner done, do not wear your lenses to your appointment and do not replace them until the day after the procedure.

7.If you are having the eyeliner procedure done, as a safety precaution, in case of watering or swelling, we recommend that you have someone available, or accompany you, who could drive you home if you so decide, or if it is necessary. (Severe swelling is unlikely)

8.If you are having lip liner done and have had previous problems with cold sores, fever blisters, or mouth ulcers, the procedure is likely to re-activate the problem. Keeping clean will help prevent any cold sores from forming.

9.Those who have severe allergies, I recommend allergy testing of pigment before the planned procedure.

POST TREATMENT CARE

The day of the procedure:

NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH WITH FINGERS! DO NOT USE TAP WATER OR GET SHOWER WATER ON PROCEDURE SITE FOR 5 DAYS NO MAKEUP NEAR AREA FOR 5 DAYS. AVOID SWEATING, SWIMMING, SUN, HEAT, STEAM FOR 7 DAYS.)

1. 30 minutes after the treatment, please use clean gauze or paper towels to Pat dry and apply a very THIN layer of aftercare (what I provide in jar first 48hrs and A&D ointment ONLY!)

2. ICE every hoir for 24 hours, clean paper towel EVERY time, apply aftercare in tub w/lidocaine as needed for comfort. Use A&D to keep moisturized as needed, (rice grain amount)

3. Before bedtime, clean with Hibicleanse, gently dab on with gauze, please do one final (Gently) wipe, pat dry, and apply Aftercare.

Day 2 to Day 7 of the procedure
1. 3 times a day, CLEAN with hibicleanse. A few times a day, please DAB the treated area with sterile GAUZE OR PAPER TOWEL. (NO FABRICS) Pat dry and apply a very THIN layer of aftercare.

2. If the treated area feels dry or tight, please apply A&D.

Day 1 - 5: The brows will appear darker and thicker and scabbing will form.

Day 5 - 9: (SAFE TO SHOWER/Wash face gently! NO SCRUBBING!)
As the scabs start to come off, your brows may look a bit patchy. Please don’t be alarmed. This will only last a couple of days and the aftercare will also help with the scabbing.

Days 9 - 12: Your brows may look light or milky due to the formation of new skin tissue. This is completely normal.

Day 12 - 21: Your brow color will gradually get darker as the new skin settles. The color of the brows will be darker compared to Day 9 – 12. Please note that everyone’s skin is different. Please trust the process and allow the brows to heal naturally. If you notice imperfections, it can always be fixed during touch-up.

1. We recommend that if there is swelling, ice packs be applied for 10-15 minutes each hour for the first 24 hours following the procedure, except at bedtime. It is important to place clean tissue paper between the ice bag and the skin to prevent frostbite. The ice is used to minimize swelling and provide comfort. After the first 24 hours the use of ice is no longer beneficial. Do not take aspirin, as this promotes bleeding at the micro pigmentation sites. Tylenol TM is recommended for temporary pain relief.

2. Avoid contact with water; recreational water sports and pools for 3-5 days following the procedure. After 5 days you may gently clean the procedure area with a mild soap and water as needed. (DAB, don’t scrub!) Baths, showers, swimming, and other recreational water activities are then permitted as long as the face does not become wet.
After TWO WEEKS or after the pigment scabs over (whichever comes first), you may resume all normal methods of swimming and bathing.

3. Stay out of the sun! If you must be out and about, wear a hat and lots of sunscreen.

4. Avoid wearing makeup until the procedure heals (7-10 days). When the procedure area has smoothed over and feels like the rest of your skin, purchase new makeup supplies and use those, not your old ones as they can cross contaminate the procedure with bacteria.

5. If you are a blood donor you cannot give blood for 1 year following the procedure (American Red Cross)

6. Avoid gardening and contact with animals for two weeks following the procedure to prevent infection. (Or be sure to wash hands thoroughly)

7. DON’T WORRY!! Your procedure will begin to oxidize (begin to turn darker and darker) immediately and during the next 3-4 days will lighten 3 shades. Do not be alarmed. It may then flake off, it may look like pigment isn’t there.. IT IS! Takes up to 2 week to see the pigment resurface! You are still healing! Then the color will revert back to the color that was first implanted the 1st 20 minutes into the skin.

8. Symptoms of infection may or may not occur. Although rare, They include: “redness, swelling, tenderness of procedure site, red streaks going from procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from procedure site.” (stated as required from AB300 Article 2, 119303 C)

9. If you experience symptoms of infection (listed above) or allergic reaction, seek medical care immediately.

10. Fading or loss of pigment may occur. Some flaking off of the pigment may occur on some skin types. Do not be alarmed. It is normal. There should be pigment under the skin where the pigment has flaked off. If there is no pigment there, then a touch up will be required.

11. Judgment of your final results should be deferred until one month following the procedure. The intensity of the eyeliner is most prominent following the procedure itself. Over the next two to three weeks, the pigment intensity will lighten by up to 40-50%. If after one month you feel that certain modifications in the pigment need to be made, we will be happy to discuss this with you.
